The Great Return

We may have outgrown our primary ties, but the path back to wholeness remains open. If you let go of the need to own your "self" and instead surrender to the world, you will find that you can become the wind, the stars, or any soul you encounter. You are the vessel for the universe, and the universe is the home for your spirit.

——Hattie

  • Primary Ties: Originally conceptualized by Erich Fromm, these refer to the primal connections of an infant to its mother or early humanity’s bond with nature. It is a state of "pre-individualistic oneness"—providing absolute security but at the cost of an independent identity.

  • Secondary Ties: As we develop individuality and independence, we become "separate entities," often experiencing a sense of alienation or loneliness. We then seek "secondary ties" to reconnect with the world through labor, social structures, or material possessions.

  • The Message’s Intent: True liberation comes when we move beyond the need to "possess" the self. By dissolving the ego, we return to a state of universal connection, not as dependent beings, but as conscious participants in the wholeness of nature.
